Finally, trying a new closer.

May 4, 2012 12:34 pm

This is long overdue guys.  I understand giving a guy a chance but Marmol has scared the shit out of me eveytime he takes the mound for a couple years now.  Even when he K'd 14 /9 or something crazy he still scared me.  We have talked about this before and he has just gotten more and more miserable.  I dont understand it and i dont want to.  This could be temporary i hear due the fact that we do not have another capeable closer.  I would rather watch someone go out there and get banged around than to watch Marmol walk 5 batters/inning...and get banged around. So what if he gets 3 Ks if he has to allow 7 runs to get them.  GEEZ, all i can say is "about time!"   Go Cubbies!!!

Opening day is here!

April 5, 2012 11:55 am

My fellow Cubnmericans our favorite day of the year has arrived. It is truly my most optimistic day of the year. I can't wait to hear the crack of the bat and the sound of the leather pounding as the ball hits the mitt. I have plenty of hope for this season with the changes we have made. Its a brand new year. Let's score some runs!

The time is now!

March 27, 2012 11:43 am

Lets get this show on the road fellows.  I know our team has been dismal at best and not much more can be expected from this year.  But the season is upon us.  Oakland and Seattle play a REAL game on Wednesday.  Its time to crawl out of our caves and get back online to talk some baseball!!!  Cant wait to hear from all yall!  Go Cubs!

Spring is here

February 20, 2012 11:52 am

Yesterday morning the Cubs had their first practice of the spring. It was good to see the boys get out there and do some long toss. Next Staurday we will have our first full scrimmage and then it will be on! As usual I am more optomisitic at this time of year than any. But the boys look focused. You don't often see that happening in spring ball so hopefully we are turning a new leaf. Sadly I live on the other side of town now so I won't get to as many practices as I used to. But I'll make up for that with extra games. Let's go Cubbies.

Yoenis Cespedes in the outfield

January 23, 2012 4:06 pm

I dont know a whole lot about this guy but he seems to really be able to handle the bat.  He hit 33 HRs in 90 games in Cuba last year while hitting at a .333 clip.  I certainly wouldnt expect that in the MLB but those number ought to translate fairly nicely.  Maybe hit .290 with 30 HR in a full season?  It appears that the Cubs are making just as much of a push for him as anyone.  He is only 26, it would be nice to land him if he can come at a reasonable rate.  It seems like we got a lot of OF and Pitchers.
